The sphere of concern vs. the sphere of influence
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey is a classic book on self improvement. My favorite take away from the book is the sphere of concern vs. the sphere of influence (or control). If you are concerned about things you have no control or influence over then you will be spinning your wheels needlessly. By focusing on what you can control or influence you increase your ability to be effective.

Mistakes, rejection, and the fear of failure
My daily motto is to get enough No's to get to Yes. So many people are afraid to make mistakes, to risk being rejected and to fail but those are the only ways to succeed.
If you are feeling bad about something that you have done, keep doing it until you feel good.
This is a great quote from Michael Jordan:
I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. – Michael Jordan
